Is it Time to Take Video Seriously?

by Martin Neumann ~ May 26th, 2007

Des Walsh writing at B5media’s Business and Blogging discusses that now that Google includes video heavily in their searches the online business owner and blogger might just have to take a closer look at video - and more to the point, start using it to communicate with their audience.

Writes Des …

Google’s announcement last week on its move to a universal search model “that will offer users a more integrated and comprehensive way to search for and view information online” suggests that I, and anyone involved in business blogging or other aspects of online business, need to give video a lot more attention

Des talks about the potential cost involved in getting some sort of decent set up. He links to Jim Kukral who takes us through his $3,000 set-up.

But I especially pull out this comment from a commenter at Des’ blog…

…it isn’t about what you spend, its always about what you achieve in terms of the richness of the communication.

That gives hope to all those with budgets that would make an independent filmmaker chuckle.

Des got me thinking, too, about the place video is going to be playing in promoting home businesses and getting the information to customers about products and services. It’s somewhat like the way authors are using trailers to promote their books.

It seems like whenever I finally get the hang of one thing, like blogging I have to learn something new, but you just gotta roll with the punches hopefully the whole video thing isn’t to tricky.
