Gizmo Project

Gizmo Project uses your internet connection (broadband or dial-up) to make calls to other computers. With the click of a mouse, you’re connected to friends, family, and colleagues anywhere on earth. It’s just that simple. You talk clearly. For as long as you want. For free.
Billing itself “Gizmo is a Free Phone for Your Computer , that makes calling as easy as instant messaging”, Gizmo is a free phone your computer. Gizmo is a strong competitor to Skype and offers a very similar service.
With free calls to 60 countries - over 2 billion phones, Gizmo has a pleasant interface (better than Skype, imo) and they offer a low cost to make and receive traditional calls.
If it wasn’t for Skype’s huge user base - now well over 100,000,000 Gizmo would be a clear leader.
