(note: this is a sponsored review)

I’ve longed talked about backing up issues here at HomeOfficeVoice over the years - to be more precise: the near collapse of
my online business when my computer gives up and I haven’t bothered backing anything up. It happens nearly every year for me
and when it does I rant and rave and say I got to back-up, got to schedule it … Got to. But I end up back to my lazy ways.
Well, here’s a timely reminder: backing up your vital business data is not only an ongoing must, it’s simply smart business
practice.
As you can see, this is a sponsored post and I’m going to be talking about Data
Deposit Box.
Backing up is not fun, or sexy or something we look forward to doing. It’s a chore. As I’m reviewing Data Deposit Box it occurred to me that in 2006 I’ve written quite a lot of content - both online
and offline … and it’s all sitting on my one computer. Hundreds of Megabytes and hundreds of hours of work all stored on
the one computer that I’m sitting in front of now.
What if the unthinkable happens … again? What if my computer or hard drive gives up? And trust me … it does! The answer
is: my business has pretty much vanished.
So friends: Back up! And back up frequently.
Now onto Data Deposit Box.
I’m glad I was offered this to review as I have never come across them before. I’m glad because they take away what is
usually a boring procedure (scheduling ongoing back-ups) and makes it all a breeze.
This online back-up service hits all the right spots: It’s extremely cost-effective, it’s automatic, and it encrypts your
data along the way to name a few of its features.
From only $2 for 1GB a month the pricing is very enticing for the small/home business owner. More on that later.
The big winner for me is that it automatically backs up your data as you go along…
Whenever you’re online, Data Deposit Box backs up your data automatically. There are no procedures to follow. No
Schedules to set. You can never miss a backup window.
No more scheduling to back up my files - I like that!
I also love the simplicity of the offering. You get an unlimited 14 day trial (which I’ll be taking up), you can have
unlimited users and computers per account and the service is web-based (although they do offer a windows desktop software
option).
Okay. Lets look at pricing. With their “No Nonsense Pricing Plan” they offer up a pretty attractive package in my opinion.
Only $2/GB per month. And the beauty is there’s no catch to it. You only pay for what you need and nothing more.
As an example: You have 1.5GB of data you need to back up. Easy. 1.5Gb x $2/GB = $3. So, you only pay for what you need.
Let’s say you have whopping 7.5Gb of data to backup. Once again: 7.5Gb x @2/GB = $15.
With companies such as this, one’s that are vital to your business I like to look into them. Know who are they. Have they
been around? And for me, and I’m a hard taskmaster in this regard, they pass the mark…
Data Deposit Box™ was developed in house with over 2 years and 2 million dollars going into its development. In
late 2002 it was ready for market.
They’ve also been favorably reviewed by sites such as PC World, PC Magazine and eWeek.
I’m giving Data Deposit Box a trial run over the next few weeks but I can
already see myself signing up - because of it’s ease of use and simple pricing structure for me, it’s just smart business
practice.
Take a look at Data Deposit Box.

BTW, did you know that a hard drive crashes every 15 seconds and that 1 in 5 computers suffer a fatal hard drive crash during
their lifetime?

Another way to safely store all your media files is to backup all of them to a secure online location and restore them whenever you need them. You can do that easily with a pioneer online service called IBackup, rated by PC World as the ‘best all around backup service’.
IBackup allows you to store your important documents and files securely online. It is like an external hard drive on your computer. It also protects you from data loss caused by system crash, drive failures, virus attack and theft. IBackup has both browser based and downloadable applications for storage and retrieval of your data and is supported on Windows, Linux or Unix and Mac platforms. The files you backed up can be accessed from anywhere and anytime.
IBackup offers multiple modes to upload your files. You can use ‘Webmanager’, IBackup’s browser interface, to upload files and folders. To drag-and-drop files and folders, via browser and desktop, there is WebFolders. You can also use IDrive, IBackup’s network drive mapping application, to drag-and-drop. You can even schedule to transfer data to your online storage space using IBackup for Windows.
You can play your favorite audio or video files stored in your IBackup account using the media player of your choice. You can create playlists of your favorite artists and play them in a sequence. You can also save these playlists and access them later. IBackup has all these features when you store your media files in your online storage account. You can even share your playlists with your friends or family and let them enjoy your favorite selections. You can set preferences for this shared resource like password protection, the number of times it can be accessed by another user. With Web-Manager you can also private share data instantly with another IBackup user.
